The ethnic and cultural configuration of Rupea illustrates the presence of the Saxon villages, which result in a specific identity trademark of this region.

The multi-ethnic character is a consequence of the cohabitation with the natives both in their traditional Romanian villages, that became mixt, as well as the surrounding compact Romanian and Hungarian villages. The Saxons and mainly the Romanians developed their own traditional rural culture, that granted the region of Rupea with a distinctly defined ethnographic profile, with obvious authentic features.

The ethnographic museum "Gh. Cernea" illustrates the rural area around Rupea, as well as the market of Cohalm and its commercial space, a meeting point for the inhabitants.
